Portera is seeking an Azure Virtual Data Center Migration and Administration Specialist

At Portera, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the creation of a Virtual Data Center in Azure for one of our key clients. You’ll drive the migration of all on-premises Data Center assets to the Azure cloud, bringing your deep technical expertise to lead innovation, minimize risks, and optimize performance. Your excellent communication skills will ensure smooth collaboration with technical stakeholders, and you will be at the heart of driving successful cloud transitions.
Key Responsibilities:
– Cloud Governance Design: Lead the design and implementation of Azure Virtual Data Centers with an emphasis on security, governance, FinOps, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA). Ensure alignment with best practices.
– Hands-On Leadership: Direct DevOps engineers and be actively involved in configuring and implementing Azure infrastructure (compute, networking, storage).
– Cloud Migration Strategy: Develop a migration plan tailored to the client’s needs, ensuring seamless transitions from on-premise environments, including disaster recovery and rollback plans.
– Risk and Impact Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments throughout the migration process, ensuring the least disruption to business operations.
– Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with IT leaders and technical teams to validate design decisions and address compliance issues.
– Migration Execution: Oversee the migration of servers, VMs, databases, and applications, ensuring minimal downtime and business continuity.
– Post-Migration Support: Provide support post-migration, fine-tuning performance, ensuring scalability, and driving cost optimizations.
What You Bring:
– Azure IaaS Expertise: Extensive experience designing, deploying, and managing Azure IaaS workloads, including Azure VMs, Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, and ExpressRoute.
– Cloud Security & Compliance: Strong experience with cloud security frameworks, Azure AD, RBAC, and network isolation.
– Proven Cloud Migration Success: Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale Azure migrations for both greenfield and brownfield projects.
– Hybrid Cloud Management: Expertise in hybrid cloud architectures, integrating on-prem with Azure for seamless migration.
– Infrastructure Automation: Advanced experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates, and Bicep for automated cloud deployments.
– Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Python for automation and troubleshooting.
– Data Migration Expertise: Experience in migrating databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle to Azure.
– Disaster Recovery: Expertise in designing and managing disaster recovery strategies using Azure Site Recovery.
– Cloud Financial Management: Experience with cost management strategies to optimize cloud spend.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Azure Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Expert certifications.
– Experience with multi-cloud strategies and deep knowledge of cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
– Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AKS, and DevOps practices like CI/CD pipelines.
